Barban is located in the valley of Rasa in the South-East of Istria, Barban is 28 km North-East of Pula, Barban is 10 km West of Labin and 5 km from the sea.

The municipality of Barban in Istria  encompasses an area of 100 km2 containing 73 villages and hamlets with a total population of 2,802 inhabitants.

Getting to Barban by Plane

The main airport in Istria is Pula international which is located 6 km from Pula and 25 km from Barban. The drive to the Barban holiday properties takes 15 - 30 minutes. As you leave the airport turn left for 2 km and then turn right and follow the road direct to Barban.

To drive from Zagreb airport to any of the Barban apartments, villas, cottages or villas takes between 3 - 4 hours and the drive from Rijeka airport (island Krk ) takes approximately 1.3 hours

Another popular route is via Trieste airport in Italy. Holiday makers can hire a car there or make the way to Barban via the bus service ( change at Pula ,Rovinj or Labin ) . Trieste airport to the Istrian border takes approximately 30 minutes

At Pula airport , Pula bus or Pula train station you will find plenty of taxis available. The cost from Pula to Barban is approximately 400 Kuna.

The history of Barban dates back to the 13 century when Barban was a fortified town. The village is rich in gothic monuments and a Baroque style church as well as 3 other churches and parts of the city walls and city gate can still be seen.

Barbans  main economy is based on agriculture and stock breeding. However as Tourism has developed over the last few  years Barban has been at the forefront of the development of Agro tourism  (everything must be home-grown as well as home bred). Many of the apartments that are available for rent offer you the chance to sample  home made foods and drink

Along with the fantastic Istrian cuisine that Barban has to offer visitors to Barban can enjoy walks, cycling and horse riding throughout Barbans natural surroundings

There are also many places to explore around the East coast of Istria and Barban. Highly recommended is the Glavani adventure park which is 10 km away and is a great day out for all the family.

On the way to Glavani adventure park you will pass through or go near the village of Manjadvorci where you will find a large and well equipped horse riding stables called Ranch Barba Tone. Manjadvorci is 18 km from Pula and is just off the main Pula - Labin road
